Faith
At the core of the St. Augustine Catholic School mission is our faith, with an emphasis on allowing our students to encounter Christ in their everyday lives. We provide many opportunities for our students and families to grow in their relationship with God, develop a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith, and live the Gospel in their daily life.
In addition to our daily prayer and religion class, students participate in the following:
- Mass: Our students attend Mass every Friday and on Holy days of obligation. Each grade level takes turns planning and assisting with the carrying out of the Mass. Students attend with their Big/Little buddies, sing liturgical songs (led by our choir), and receive meaningful and insightful messages to carry out in their own lives.
- Holy Rosary: A schoolwide rosary is held weekly during the months of October and May.
- Stations of the Cross: Students lead and participate in weekly stations of the cross during the season of Lent.
- Adoration: Students in grades 3 through 8 attend Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of each month.
- May Procession: Our 2nd grade students lead us in a May Procession as we honor Mary.
BLAZE Ministry for Girls
BLAZE is a Walking with Purpose ministry designed to counteract the pressures society places on girls, causing them to question their true worth and beauty. Through BLAZE, we focus on affirming each girl’s identity as rooted in Christ, recognizing her as God’s chosen and beloved daughter. This program serves as an antidote to challenges such as bullying, anxiety, and body-image issues, replacing lies with truth and empowering girls from the inside out through Scripture-based learning. Mrs. Comasco will lead our 8th-grade girls in this journey, meeting during lunch and recess on Wednesdays. The group will gather for 20 sessions throughout the school year, with no meetings during the holidays.
